Study Questions for Genesis 7:1-8:22

1. What are some repeated words or phrases in these chapters?

2. How did Noah know what animals were clean and unclean, mentioned in 7:2? Where in the bible are clean and unclean animals described? 

3. How many years went by from the time when God told Noah to build the ark until the flood came? 

4. Why are there so many descriptions of the exact timing of everything? What do you think is the significance of these dates?

5. What does it mean that God remembered Noah in 8:1? 

6. What mountain did the ark finally rest on? (8:4). Where is that in current world geography?

7. God was so clear about how to build the ark and what to collect and bring into the ark. Yet when it was time to exit the ark Noah had to send out ravens and doves to see if it was safe to exit? Why do you think God didn’t give specific instructions after the flood

8. Noah built an altar and offered up burnt offerings once they exited the ark in 8:20. Where in the bible was burnt offering described and instructed in the bible?
