In the early days of Berean, when we were 40 members or so, the members used to eat lunch at fast food places together after service. Lunches were a great time to fellowship with fellow members as it made us feel like family. As the church grew in number, it was evident that it would be difficult to keep this tradition going. As a result, the idea of serving lunch at church came into being. In the beginning, a handful of members rotated serving lunch. It was a huge task. They did it with the utmost care and dedication but due to the time commitment involved, it was too much for a few people to be responsible for. Thus, we have our current month-to-month lunch teams. Each month a different team, led by a designated team leader, prepare and serve lunch on Sundays. The lunch team members of a particular month will meet together, about five to six of them, on Saturday to prepare lunch for Sunday. Not only eating together but also preparing lunch together has turned out to be an opportunity for fellowship. If anyone is looking to get plugged into Berean, this is a great way to get one’s feet wet.
